Meridian, ID – Former State Senator Russ Fulcher, candidate for Idaho’s 1st Congressional District, is honored to announce that The Club for Growth PAC is endorsing his candidacy for U.S. Congress.

With a nationwide network of pro-growth Americans that believe in limited government, the Club is the leading free market advocacy group in the country.
The Club for Growth PAC released their statement in support of Fulcher on Monday, November 27th and is as follows:

“Club for Growth PAC is thrilled to announce support for Russ Fulcher and his campaign for Congress,” stated Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh.

“Russ is a conservative hero in Idaho politics. While serving as a state senator, Fulcher led the fight against the implementation of the state’s Obamacare exchange. He also was a staunch opponent of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion and led the effort to eliminate the state’s sales tax on groceries.

“Russ has demonstrated he’s not afraid to buck the party’s establishment and will tirelessly fight for conservative economic policies to strengthen our nation.”

“I am honored to receive the support of such an impactful organization,” said Fulcher. “Club for Growth believes that economic opportunity and prosperity grows when government is limited and free enterprise is promoted. And so do I.”

The Fulcher campaign is showing $102,115 in receipts from the most recent period, ending in the federal reporting deadline of September 30th.

“Russ’ vision truly resonates with his fellow Idahoans,” said Sen. Cliff Bayer (R-21). “His experience shows, and he will do an excellent job in Congress.”

“We truly are a grassroots campaign, and I am deeply humbled by every contribution I have received. To me, it’s not about the amount. It’s about the person, who is willing give his or her hard-earned resources to stand beside me as we pursue greater opportunities by right-sizing the relationship between Idaho and the federal government.”

Why I will ALWAYS uphold the Second Amendment

(Photo: Twitter/Ada County Sheriff’s Office)

Late last night, sirens were blaring. Officers roared past my house and down the hill to a neighbor’s place. Then, my wife Kara heard gunshots. Soon after, the neighbor’s house went up in flames- bright yellow scorching hot flames. The house was devoured in minutes. So far, three people have died.

More details will come soon, but here is what we know from speaking with police: Police received a 911 call from the residence around 10:30pm, claiming there was an intruder. Police arrived, engaged with an armed man, and shots were fired. The intruder re-entered the home and then the home burst into flames. Beyond that, details are scarce. At least 50 police and firemen arrived at the scene. So far today, many have remained in the area, trying to determine more details.

My home in Meridian has housed my family for the last 29 years. It’s only a few miles away from the dairy farm where multiple generations of my family, including myself, were raised. The Fulcher home is in a safe area surrounded by fields and farms, and is one of the last areas of Meridian that still has that “country” feel. But this isn’t the first time a threat has presented itself here.

In March of 2013, I was on the Idaho Senate floor when my phone rang. My kids were calling, saying a man had been shot and was at the door. They kept him outside the house in the doorway and placed a tourniquet on his leg, which was hemorrhaging blood. The man had been part of a drug deal gone wrong, and in an attempt to save his own life, jumped out of a moving car in front of my house. Three other men in the car shot at him, hitting him in the knee. My kids kept him in the covered doorway, called the police, and waited. Then, the shooters came back, and pulled into the driveway…

Fortunately, they turned around and left. But this story could have ended very differently. I was very proud of my kids- they were armed, and they had the ability to defend themselves if absolutely necessary.

Friends, I was reminded then, and I am reminded now, of why I will always be a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. In both of these situations, having a gun meant having the ability to defend ourselves if we had to- and that can literally be the difference between life and death.

When the government disarms a population, it disarms the people that follow the rules. It does NOT disarm the people who don’t follow the rules! When you take away people’s right to defend themselves, you strip them of their freedom.

I am so thankful for the safety of my family through these events, and my thoughts and prayers are with the neighbors who were not so fortunate. I will always be armed, my family will be armed, and I will always defend the Second Amendment.

Boise, ID – Former State Senator and current gubernatorial candidate Russ Fulcher announced today that he will be withdrawing from the Governor’s race and seek Idaho’s 1st Congressional District seat currently held by Rep. Raúl Labrador.

“I believe that government exists to serve the people, not the other way around,” said Fulcher. “Raúl and I have worked together for a long time to promote Idaho families and encourage government to act within its proper Constitutional role. We recognize the best way to serve the citizens of Idaho is to work together in complimentary roles. The 1st Congressional District race needs a candidate who will champion limited government and Idaho values. I am excited to offer my service to the people of Idaho to serve them in that capacity.”

Congressman Labrador, who is currently a candidate for Governor, said:

“I fully support Russ Fulcher in his bid to become the next Congressman from Idaho’s 1st District. Russ’ background as an international businessman, legislative Senate leader, and champion of small government makes him an excellent candidate for U.S. Congress. Having him serve in Washington DC would give me great confidence that the fight for liberty will continue. I am convinced that this is the best move for Republican party unity and also the best move to change the direction of our state and country.”

Blazing a Trail Across Idaho

By Russ Fulcher

2017 is off to a roaring start! My team and I have hit the road, spending time in many different parts of the state, and the people of Idaho have been very gracious to me! It has been my pleasure to listen and learn at each stop along the way.

Within the past month, much has happened! We participated in the McCall Winter Carnival Parade, attended the Region 7 GOP Lincoln Day Dinner in Idaho Falls, and tabled at the gun show in Burley. I was invited to speak to the Idaho Association of Finance Professionals, to parents and teachers at the Buck the Core Rally in Boise, and was a guest on the Mike Adams Show (590 KID Idaho Falls). I discussed land management with the cattlemen of Owyhee County and attended the Lincoln Day celebration in Emmett! Special thanks to my team for representing me in Elmore, Valley, Canyon, and Ada counties in the past week! Next stops include more county Lincoln Day celebrations.

TBT: Russ at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

By Russ Fulcher

When I was 17 years old, I was blessed with the honor of a lifetime: the opportunity to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. At the time I was one of two Idaho delegates elected by peers to visit Washington, DC for the student government training program, Boys Nation.

The American Legion sponsored the program, along with its local predecessor, Boys State.  Two representatives per state were selected and were housed at American University.  Early one morning prior to an Independence Day ceremony, I was greeted in my dorm room (unannounced) by three uniformed military officers.

They told me I had been “recruited” for duty, to place a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was an order, not a request.  When I asked “Why me,” I was told that no native Idahoan had ever fulfilled such duty, and protocol dictated that over time every state must be represented by a native-born wreath layer. I was never able to validate that statement, but the officers communicated that Wyoming was in the same situation, so a Wyoming delegate (pictured next to me in white) was also “recruited.”  My only qualification was that I was a native-born Idahoan.  But I had a problem: I had no suit. I thought it would be dishonorable to perform such a task in jeans and a T-shirt!  Thankfully, I was granted 15 minutes to run dorm to dorm trying to find a colleague about my size that had a suit I could borrow. The experience changed my life.
